Calling all Phrases

Hi Surrey Friends,

I am writing to call out to you to submit your phrases to me ASAP. I have the following:

Let our eyes see the wonder -Estel
Every moment is its own colour -Grace Y.
Love yourself and others will follow -Grace C.
What do YOU think? -Kate
Younight; don't be prejudiced -Michael
Peace does not come from force -Aren
Do Small Things With Great Love - Anna

My dad (multi-talented man that he is) has agreed to print these for us, so I want to make sure that I have what you want printed.

I am moving on this quickly so please e-mail me or reply here ASAP with your ideas.

(and spread the word to the other people at your school who may not be checking the blog!)

Thanks!

Julia

A few thoughts after the mural...

It's been a few weeks since the big day, and I've been thinking about what I have learned from painting the mural, and what I can take away from it.

What have you learned?

What will you take away from this experience?

For the students, are you excited for the workshop on May 3 to talk about the film?

Anthony :)

What An Amazing Day

I cannot express how amazing yesterday was. I enjoyed the painting, of course, but my favorite part was interacting with the amazing Surrey youth. I would love to hear more of your stories of your experiences before, during and after the project.

Cathy R.

Don't forget!

I know none of us will be forgetting about the magic of yesterday any time soon, but I wanted to remind you about something that you might forget, which is to make sure you put your screen printed shirts and cloths in the dryer for 30 mins before you wash them for the first time.

This will allow the paint to "set" and mean that your Surrey Take It To The Wall shirt will last forever!

love to you all,

Julia

What a day this has been!

I'm sitting here, completely exhausted both mentally and physically from today's event (and from the hours spent after getting all of the paint off - the pink DOES NOT like to wash off).

I'm sitting here in my small living room looking at all of the great photos from today, and I'm still in a state of unbelief that I was able to be a part of a project so unique and so powerful that it unites people both young and old from all walks off life. Without this project, I would have NEVER met any of you interesting and unique delegates.

My own delegate from St. Louis, Brad, was great! I also had the pleasure of meeting others from the USA, Germany, and various places in Canada. Your stories were so interesting and your ideas helped expand the minds of all of us students, and of each co-delegate.

Remember, to all of the students, we are the future!

Can't wait for the next Surrey: Take it to the Wall meeting!

Cheers,

Anthony H.

Only hours away...

It's less then 24 hours until we commence painting. All of our hard work has boiled down to this... I'm so excited! Who else?
Hey everyone!

Check out our mural theme song "Paint the Town Red" ----->

It was written (music and lyrics) by Stephen Robert Lane (my dad!) - lead singer, guitarist and front man for the band "Murphy's Lawyer"

I hope we can listen to the song together tomorrow and am also hoping that we can include it in our documentary.

Here is the blog from another mural project event that I participated in with my parents, through an organization called "The Wall Dogs" :

(more tunes to be posted soon)

See you all SOOOON :)

Paint-proof tips?

Anyone's got good paint-proof tips? I know we have to wear clothes that we don't mind getting paint on... What are others doing for footwear? This is the first time I'm painting... EVER! *embarrassing but true!*
My dad suggested putting on thick body lotion on parts of our arms that stay uncovered, so we can get the paint off more easily. Anyone knows if this works? Tips please!!!
