What An Amazing Day

I cannot express how amazing yesterday was. I enjoyed the painting, of course, but my favorite part was interacting with the amazing Surrey youth. I would love to hear more of your stories of your experiences before, during and after the project.

  1. The experience was a positive and energetic time. I will post here a couple of negatives that I heard and were shared. The main thing was the loss of control after lunch. Creative control that was. When the groups were mixed many were hesitant (and that is a nice word) to let go of the collaboration and energy they built prior to lunch. Many felt a sense of loss, and gain as they watched their 'masterpiece' transform without their input. It was scary, disappointing, and anticlimatic for many.

Reading about the mural project earlier I expected some type of layering and covering to exist as the different communities expressed and overlapped. The difference being that we did it in a matter of hours were this takes many generations.

on that note, however a closing circle to discuss this would have been a great cornerstone from which to build. I hope that this was not a once and done event. I look forward to some day taking classes from my partner and learning from them. How about You?
